About Us

The Twin Falls District BLM Fire Management Prevention and Mitigation program provides outreach, fire education, fuels mitigation, fire information, fire cause investigation, Rural Fire Department cooperation, as well as support to six Firewise Communities around the Magic and Wood River Valley’s.

The Prevention and Mitigation staff participates in local community and school events to help educate the public about Responsible Public Land Use and preventing human caused wildfires. Additionally, the Fire Information Officer works closely with local, state and regional media to ensure the public is aware of wildfires and projects being conducted on public lands.

The fire investigation staff investigates all human caused fires to determine trends. These trends, in turn, are used to educate the public on how to prevent further human caused wildfires. The Investigation staff is highly regarded in the Wildland Fire Investigation community and is regularly requested to assist neighboring district and local fire departments.
