The Sawtooth National Forest Fuels Management program focuses on: protecting communities within the Wildland Urban Interface as well as the surrounding environment, improving overall forest health, and reducing fuel concentrations. Our goals adhere to the National Cohesive Wildland Fire Management Strategy. Our emphasis lies in focal area #1: Restore and Maintain Landscapes. We strive towards these utilizing treatments such as: mechanical, prescribed fire, aerial spraying, planting, and appropriate wildfire response.
The Bureau of Land Management Twin Falls District Fuels Management Program supports the strategic planning and implementation of land stewardship across the Burley, Shoshone, and Jarbidge Field Offices. The program has strategic partnerships with Non-profit Organizations, Conservation groups, local, state, and federal Governments to address forward thinking outcomes for land and their disturbances due to Wildfire and invasive species encroachment. The program encompasses and develops one of the nations top producing treated acres to maintain and restore ecological resilience within Southern Idaho’s Geographical Landscape.
